Really fed up with Eon

Are there any suppliers left who let you set your own dd level online like I used to be able to do?

Eon have just cut my monthly payment yet again although there is only a very small credit balance and I am well aware that with the forthcoming price increases even the old level of payments will not be enough. It was about right for last year.

I can't reset the old level on line and the icing on the cake is the lecture I've just had to endure from the CS rep about how their computer knows best...

    Hi Amanita,

I'm sorry about the conversation that you have just had, this sounds like really poor customer service.

I assume they didn't give you any actual figures/info about why the payments had been reduced?

If you wanted to increase your payments, they should have done this for you really.

If you would like me to take a look at your account, just send me your details to WebForumAdvisors@eonenergy.com and I will help you out.

    Let me know.

    Helena :)

Helena - you have an email! I know it is unusual to want to pay more!

    Thanks

SSE will set your DD at what amount you would like and will fix it so it can't be automatically amended. All you have to do is assure them you will pay any outstanding balance at time of bill if there is one

Now really really fed up with them.

After Helena sorted them out - they've cut my DDM again today by 2/3rds. As soon as my contract is over then I'm off.

We are about 1 month's payment in credit and about to head into the coldest part of the year....

My colleague also with EON asked me to look at her bill as they have raised her DD from £78.50 up to £269 per month, they say the gas used was 11500kwh and the electric 7000kwh, I too got confused, as they live in a bungalow, after much investigation, it seems eon have 'forgotten' to add the 1st bill of £400+ then just continued to collect £78.50 per month even though it was evident the balance was increasing, they are going to clear the bill and switch to another provider.

British Gas are just as bad. I like to pay a monthly DD based on my most expensive month, personal preferance and it drives me crazy as every couple of months they email to say they have reduced the DD and I have to call up and ask them to restore it to previous levels. GRRRR!

That is what I'm afraid of will happen to me.

I am happy ( well not really but you know what I mean) with the current level of payments. I do not want to be hit with a £500pm DDM to clear arrears that they themselves have created.

Their DDM system is a very bad joke.

I suppose the Energy companies are playing on people being 'stupid' and just want folk to say " we are only paying £xx per month"
I do like my BG tariff as I send a reading in every month an get billed every month, last December the month's bill was £152 for gas, but June/July August was £17 per month.
  • Are BG the only company that allow variable DDs?

I would prefer to pay for my electricity and gas according to how much I use, as like most people I use hardly any gas in the summer and I prefer my money in my savings account and not theirs.

I would rather put £100 a month into my savings account than pay Eon £100 a month and pay for what I use, either monthly or quarterly, but until I get more money in interest than I save by paying by DD I suppose I am stuck with DDs and Eon.
