Refund or Not ???

Hi guys.
Recently purchsed a gas camping cooker for a festival.
Have used it once and deemed it far to dangerous to use again especally as their was a lot of kids around.
Once i got back to my home town i put the item in the skip.
Have now asked the company for a refund & quoted the faults on the cooker they said as you have not got the faulty cooker & cannot return it meens you are not entitled to a refund ???
Are they correct ?????
Thanks to all
Matt.

Yes, you would have to return it so it can be confirmed as faulty to get a replacement/refund.

At absolutely minimum they need the item back to confirm WHY you thought it was dangerous and ensure it is not a risk to other people or a manufacturing fault.

However to be fair to any company requests for a refund should nearly always be presented with the item available for return/inspection. There are only a few reasons why this shouldn't be the case and yours is not one of them.

    Matt.

In what way was it dangerous (bearing in mind the flames will flicker and move about if its windy and that you should always place the cooker on a flat surface, not to mention not be cooking near where kids are playing, mucking about, being kids, etc.).

Because its a cooking appliance I think they are entitled to ask for some evidence that it was dangerous, they will not and should not just take your word for it that it was dangerous. Are you sure its just you were not used to cooking with a gas cooker designed for camping rather than it being dangerous?

Overall, for your chances of getting a refund, I would absolute 0.

Did you seriously think you could get a refund on your say so of the faults and not sending the item back. What were the faults exactly.

    Another timewaster methinks.
  • Erm...delusional??

It is insane to think that a retailer will give you a refund based entirely on your proclamation that a product (that they have not had an opportunity to examine) was faulty/dangerous. If it was possible to do this people would just keep things, claim to have thrown them away and show up at a shop demanding refunds.
Common sense?...There's nothing common about sense!

Maybe op is related to the person a while back who wanted a shop to refund some willington boots after they fell to pieces and she threw them away.
