Picnic for flight?

Hello,
Me and my family are flying on Monday with ryanair from Liverpool to alicante.
I just wanted to check, is it ok to take a picnic (sandwiches, crisps etc) from home to eat on the flight?
I can't see anywhere where it says you can't, but I remember a few years ago when we went Mexico that there were certain meats and food that you couldn't take into the country.
Also at Liverpool airport is there anywhere you can buy pop to drink on the plane after security.. For example a boots? Or do you have to buy any drinks on the flight?
Many thanks
