Carousel buses!!

boarded the bus and asked the driver for an Adult Single to xxx, he proceeded to charge me £2.80, which in itself is no problem, it is the correct fare as far as i know, however when i proceeded to my seat and put my ticket and change in my purse i noticed that on my ticket it states;
'ENG NAT CONC SG £0.00'
Now myself, i feel that this is clearly a ticket supposed to be given to individuals with bus pass that entitles them to free travel, am i correct in thinking this?
I had no such discount card and had to pay the full price for my ticket, so where did my £2.80 go, because the till that the driver had would surely not tally with the prices on tickets sold that journey?
I feel especially put out as i was worried that, had a ticket inspector got on the bus, i would have bee liable for not paying my fare when boarding the bus as, at the age of 22, i do not appear to be a pensioner and had no such card to award me a 'free' journey.
Would this bother anybody else?
TIA

Sounds to me like the driver pocketed the money...0

Maybe he simply pushed the wrong button?
It's hardly worth him risking his job for £2.80 IMHO0 -
people do silly things: suggest you should have tackled him at the time or maybe giving him the benefit of the doubt see what ticket he gives you next time?
If its a zero fare again: then report him to the bus company, it'll be up to them to check the till and see where the fault lies and draw their own conclusions.Unless specifically stated all posts by me are my own considered opinion.

Happens more often than you'd think...
I was pulled up by an inspector once as my ticket was plain on the back (usually the tickets had company logo - this was about three years ago) and he thought I'd faked the ticket, I showed it to him and he saw it had been printed by the machine, and he wanted the driver number of the driver who sold it to me, turns out he thought the driver was up to something. He kept the ticket to take back to the company, which left me out of pocket as that was my second trip of 6 on a whole day ticket!
To this day I hope he wasn't because he'd been lovely to me on the times I'd seen him.
Never saw that one again though, so maybe he had been, who knows?
ETA: What Timbo says will probably get the bus driver to give you the right ticket, which will be your main concern. Here you can get fined for overcarrying or using the wrong tickets so it's important something is said.Mum of several with a twisted sense of humour and a laundry obsession:o

well im guessing because of the time of the morning (10am ish) and the fact that i followed two pensioners on the bus he just thought the company wouldnt notice..
As for him not wanting to lose his job for £2.80, if he does that to 10 people in a day thats £28.00, not bad on top of your wages mon-fri!
And pushing the wrong button i do not see as possible, i mean he had to input it to get the amount up, but then obviously cancelled that and gave me a ticket for £0.00.
And i could have said something, but with a bus full of people and a driver that could barely understand what i was saying i conceded defeat and just sat down.0 -
I used to date a bus driver and he did tell me that he would occasionally not give tickets or give free tickets and pocket the money as it was his 'tea money' and basically he didnt give a stuff as his wages were cac. Not saying this is the reason you were given the wrong ticket, but some drivers will risk their jobs for a free cuppa and as they all talk to eah other at stops it soon gets round if an inspector is doing the rounds.SPC No 002 SPC(3) £285/£250 (4) £519.84/£500 (5) £768.32/£500 (6) £911.30/£600 (7) £913.23/£600 (8) £1184.82/£750 (9) £2864.04/£750 (10) £3846.25/£1000 (11) £1779.72/£1000 (12) £1596.55/£1000 (13) £1534.70/£1000 (14) £775.60/£1000 (15) £700.20/£1000 (16) £2081.34/£1000 (17) £1691.15/£1000 (18) £25/£10000

sounds to me like he's pocketed it too - are they the kinds of buses where they give change i.e the driver has access to the cash rather than the buses where you put the money in a slot. If so you could easily do this 3 or 4 times then take the money out, nice little earner every day.0
