Busted Dell laptop - any suggestions for repair?

Had it looked at. MB's dead. Think it's about £400+ to repair at Dell, which is galling, since we're still paying for it: got one year left of a three-year Government lease contract through our employer.
Dell insists we own it, despite claiming we have to pay £50 at the end of the term to keep the thing. That suggests we don't own it and yet we still have to shell out for a repair.
Tip - don't EVER buy a Dell. It just got slapped by the OFT, too.0 -
But heres a thought (sorry its broke and all) but freecycle it (perhaps minus hard drive) so that some techie bod may be able to use the parts and it saves yet more landfill!This is a system account and does not represent a real person.
