Car Insurance VS SORN when selling privately

Hello,
My mom is selling a car, her insurance runs out tonight at midnight (but i still have all day so im not panicing too much). I know that it must have constant insurance or be declared SORN with the new rules.
Her auto-renewal quote is £189 for 12 months with RAC (fully comp up to 5000miles), we called them up to try and get a laid-up 0 mile insurance and was quoted £225.
Does anyone have any advice on getting a zero mile / permanently garaged / off road insurance?
My other option is to SORN it, (ive only just got a new 6month tax disc aswell to sell the car with). If I was to SORN it luckily I have private land to offer a test drive, however, if someone buys the car they wont be able to drive away until their insurance certificate comes through a theyll need it to re-tax the car.
This new law is really annoying me!! Hope some can help.

To sum up I need insurance for ZERO miles, so I can avoid declaring SORN so when purchased the buyer has no hassle of getting it taxed.

Thanks, hope someone can understand and help!

Exactly the same situation here. We've just insured for a month, for £50, as an additional car on an existing policy. It is never too late to become what you were always intended to be0
