Is it okay to do this or will it involve lots of sanding etc.?
Thanks for the information, looks like normal satinwood is a definite no no then. That really is shocking. Only 6 months. Was that Dulux satinwood? I have done a lot of online reading about various paints, and from what I recall you certainly would need to sand down first. I suggest you Google to confirm what I say as I am going by memory of threads I have read.
Or go with the Sikkens oil based satinwood. And live off bread and water for a week to pay for it ...
What I recommend is that you find some wood that you can test on, either some offcuts somewhere, or some skirting in a cupboard that is not normally seen. Paint the test wood, leave for a week to make sure it has cured (hardened), then test to see if it has bonded to the surface. You could try sanding one area, and leaving another unsanded. I have various offcuts which I am using to test the various paints I have bought.Warning: This forum may contain nuts.0
