Medic Care Ltd - anyone used?

Hi there,
My partner recently set up his own business and was approached by Medic Care Ltd for advertising on the NHS website.
Anyway he looked and it seeme dto be a good idea so he signed up and paid the first installment but since them we have heard nothing and are not advertised on the website.

What I want to know is if anyone has used them before or are they suspected scammers?

Thanks

A quick Google search reveals warnings from others, always a good idea to do a bit of research before agreeing to anything.

Personally, I would never agree to any type of advertising over the 'phone as there are far too many dubious operators claiming to represent schools, the police and all sorts of things you might expect to be honourable.

Dont touch them with a barge-pole!!!! Run a mile and cancel any direct debits you may have with them.

They are an absolute joke. Made a huge mistake advertising with them, it was an absolute complete rip-off.

They signed me up, and to be fair like the OP says, it does seem like a good proposition. I advertised a letting agency which I had a few years ago, which also happened to be my first business. I signed up in in october and agreed to pay in instalments till Dec for the new edition which was to be released to hospitals in Jan the following year. Despite numerous letters and phone calls to Medic Care, It wasn't released until the end of May. Also, the design team had sent colour images/logos for the ad, but the final print was in black & white.

The icing on the cake was that I never had one customer from them. I think there was a reason why they didnt ask me if i wanted to renew my ad for the following years edition. In fact, I doubt they get any renewals at all.

Walk away my friend before you give them any more money. Thats the best advice I can give you.
  • Thanks for this really useful thread. I have just had one of their salesmen in my house. I was suspicious when he couldn't give me any ID other than a laminated letter with NHS logo on it; not even a business card!

The salesman was very polite when I googled the company and then refused to give him my CC details until I could look into it more. There are loads of links warning to stay away from these people. All he could say was that the reports are malicious, he was on the phone to his bosses as soon as he was out the door.

I am not sure what "NHS website" this would be - all of the official ones have no advertisements (they simply give details of eg: pharmacists)
  • They are nothing to do with the NHS they advertise with a link on the NHS, they told me my advert would be on the nhs site but it was only on the local hospital not dr's or nurses or mental health or any other local nhs sites. I called thier bluff and let them start court proceedings, they pulled out. I am sure I would have won, as the contract stated one thing and they were saying another, they were not consistant. They are very unproffessional, they didnt reply to my emails they just started court proceedings. I didnt have any customers from the advert, it is a waste of time and money, you have to click on a link, then another link and most nhs staff do not have time to surf the net. I would keep well away from mediccare I have learnt my lesson and should have done my research but their rep was very good at persuasion.BEWARE OF MEDICCARE
  • Medic Care have a link on our Staff Benefits section on our intranet (internal internet) goes straight to the discounts page.

I work within the NHS and regularly get emails from them with local offers on too.

DONT touch this company with a barge pole/

    They are scammers.

i have paid 650 to this company and owe 150 now they are going to take me to court.
I signe in sept with being told that they would have an advert on the nhs website.

They is no advert, the only way for anyone in the nhs to see it, is by going on a link that takes them th medicarenhs website and then searching under catogories.

They took 6 months to do this but promised two weeks, The salesman tells you one thing but what they dont tell you when you sign for an advert which is all legit that there is a contract on the back which basically screws to over.

They claim they are doing nothing wron, in a legal sense they are not but they so close to the line, i think you might find that they have managed to drop themselves in it by trtying to prove to me that they are legit.

look out soon as trading standards have nearly all the evidence they need along with a cretain bbc programme to kick thier butts..

Remmber the scams with adverts in books for police etc? these are the same people.
Up til now trading standards have had not enough evidence to prosecute as only one or two people have complained, but we have compiled a list of people who have been scammed by this so called company who told me they were in partnership with the nhs.

There are a joke. use your money for local adverts parsish magazines even local radio much better idea.

  • I paid £632 to Medic Care to be advertised on their 'NHS/DVLA discount website'. They put my details onto the website in October 2011. Now in September 2012 I have not had one single email, text or phone call inquiring about my offer. £632 completely down the drain. I asked Medic Care for some money back and received a terse letter declining to pay me anything. I am now going through the process of applying for a refund from them through the small claims court. They are defending the case and I will probably lose but it will only cost me £60 to at least try to get something back from them. Basically their scheme is complete rubbish. If you make the mistake I did and join their scheme I am pretty sure you will just wave bye bye to your money and not get a single inquiry.
