Proof of address - Odyssey with NatWest

Hi folks,
I'm getting a bit impatient with NatWest: I was living in Germany for a year and notified NatWest to send any post to Germany.
Just got back to the UK. Well, few days ago I was trying to update my address with NatWest. They requested my NatWest Debit Card to do an immediate address update. Although the expiry date on my card is December 2011, I was told that my card is not invalid anymore as the old "Solo" cards were replaced with new "Visa" cards. Needless to say that I didn't receive the new card. I guess it must have been lost in post.
So they ordered a new card for me which will take up to one week to arrive. Also the address update had to be done manually (whatever that means): they said they had to scan my request and send it somewhere so it can be manually inputed into their system as I don't have a valid card?! This would take a couple of working days.
However, I urgently need a paper statement to prove my new address (I had applied for a fixed bond account with Aldermore Bank and they asked for a bank statement). Again, in order to request a NatWest paper statement the address needs to updated plus it takes another 3-4 days to be sent out. Essentially, it takes two weeks to finally receive my proof of address which I then still need to send to Aldermore. By that time Aldermore would have declined my application since I'm not providing a proof of address!
Does anyone have a good a day of how to get a proof of address from NatWest quicker than two weeks?
Thank you!

Will aldermore not accept any alternative proof of address? I can understand the bank wanting proof of identity before changing details, though I can see it's frustrating.0

If you are registered for Telephone Banking and have a Security Number you can simply call NatWest and they will update it over the phone for you.David

You can change you address over the phone if your registered for telephone/online banking.
Otherwise you can register here if you have a debit card?
