Can I see a list of past documents that I've opened in XP?

I've lost a file that I opened a couple of days ago,and can't remember its name. Unfortunately I didn't have 'recently viewed files' enabled (how do you do this?) Can I get Windows to produce a list for me?

What result do you get if you open my documents, right click an empty part, click group by, date modified?0

you can search for files by their last modified date, it's one of the advanced options on XP.
Although in c:\documents and settings\'username' you should have a folder called recent which should have a shortcut to all last viewed documents.0 -

For anyone following this advice, it may say 'arrange icons by' instead.0 -
There is this for Real Player but only shows the eight most recent

it shouldn't disappear. It should still have a short cut to that drive0

If you've removed the memory card without copying the file to your PC then you won't be able to open it unless you put the memory card back in.0

Navigate to the RealPlayer history on your computer by choosing Documents and Settings\User Name\Application Data\Real\RealPlayer\History. You will need to replace "User Name" with the user name you use on your computer.
is what I followed, apart from the last sentence because I have been the only user of this netbook from new and I log in as New User!0 -
it'll be documents and settings\new user\ etc etc0

Indeed, but I think the problem is that I never actually saved it in the first place; I think I viewed it on Utube, clicked the link to download it as well and didn't notice the download had failed. However, time has not been wasted gentlemen, because of the other things I have learnt on this thread. Indeed, I still hope to learn how to put the 'my recent documents' link onto the start menu like my desktop has; it's impossible to drag it!0
