Steer clear of companies who will 'value' your domains for you - normally a waste of time and a total scam.

Are you selling the domains with content, or just the actual domain name itself? If the domain itself has content and a good history, you could try contacting similar sites/people with an interest in that area. If it's just the name you are selling, have a look at somewhere like Sedo which handles a lot of domain name buying and selling. You could also look on Sedo to see what other similar domain names are selling for so you get a guide price for your own domain.

    Hi

Personally I have never had much joy trying to sell domains, these are ones with good names and lots of search engine traffic also. Maybe I have tried to sell in the wrong places.

I received a letter in the post recently regarding the domain that I own (streety.co.uk). They want to know if it is for sale.

I am willing to listen to offers but haven't got a clue how much money I should be looking for. It is a .co.uk address and the .com version I was quoted $10000 when I enquired about it.

    Q. Has anyone sold a domain before? If so, how much?
    Q. What price do you think I should look at?

Yes, sold 2 domains for £2,000 but the reason it was so high for nothing more than domain name was because there was an ongoing trademark dispute over 2/3 of the domain name between 2 large companies but I already had permission from one of the companies to use their trademark.

The other party (who hadnt given me permission) obviously decided it was simpler to just buy the domains from me than to add another angle to an already protracted legal battle.

As to your domain.... a domain name in itself is worth the £2.95 registration fee and nothing else. If however your domain already has high traffic then the traffic itself is really what people are buying and not the domain. As to how much it is worth, well that depends on the volume of traffic.

If it is simply a quirky name that someone happens to decide they want but not existing traffic then it is simply worth what someone is willing to pay.
