Try your local paper, shop windo/supermarket for sale boards. A lot of folks will be selling off old TV's they don't have room for I'd expect.0

I got my dad a 28" Sony widescreen tele for £40 from ebay
perfect working order etc...
lots of people selling on there due to upgrading to LCDs etc... just make sure you narrow the search down by distance as you will have to pick it up!0 -
thanks a lot. will keep looking and report if i manage to find sthing good!!!A friend is a present which you give yourself (R.Stevenson)

Our local Walmart/Asda superstore had some 28" tv`s in last week for £100. I didn`t look at them well enough to say if they were widescreen or not.0

Tescos occasionally have offers on TVs. I think that there was a 28" widescreen for £100 late last year."I'm not even supposed to be here today."0

i got a 44" sony widscreen rear projector for £280 of ebay, was sold new for £1500 about 15 months previously and being a crt based one the picture quality is probably better than many lcds.
if you have access to a van or big estate car there are plenty of great deals out there off suckers who bought huge high end tvs then decided they wanted flat pannels, then have no way to move the big tv on, theres a limited market of people who are able to collect such beasts.
if i mess about i can even get mine to show a 1200x1024 rez picture which is higher than many cheap plasmas and will play hidef stuff if i send it via a pc and svideo lead.
its also nice to know in the couple of months ive had it any similarly speced lcd has droped in value more than it cost me for my tv, meaning i can wait it out with a 44" telly till there is proper hidef programing out and the 1080p models come out at reasonable prices0 -
Can you afford to save the environment for your kids? Traditional CRTs use up more power than LCD/Plasma offerings. If you believe the marketing-talk from Panasonic and Samsung, that is.0
-
But is it more environmentally friendly to get a second hand CRT that may otherwise end up in Landfill, rather than a brand new LCD/Plasma with all the associated manufacturing and shipping impact?
The CRT may well use more power but if the power is from a green energy source does that matter? It's my problem, it's my problem
If I feel the need to hide
And it's my problem if I have no friends
And feel I want to die0
