hi about 3 years ago i signed up with harrington brooks debt managment and agreed to pay £200 a mont of my 4 major debts in wich they charged £30 a month.
i kept getting statements of my creditors and 2 of the debts were going up not comming down i phoned harrington brooks and they told me this was not the case stupidly i believed them untill last mont when i started questioning them after problems with payments ie they paid my creditors random amounts late payments etc now i find myself in £3000 more debt than i started with due to interest they never got stopped but never told me and they just say its in the small print we cant guarntee to stop interes.plus other things basicly i was repeated lied to and it was not untill i spoke to one of my creditors that i found out had bad harrinton brookes had treated me. now as im in more debt than before was wondering if anybody had any advice

Hi, didnt want to read and run.
My only advice would be to speak to a debt charity like cccs asap or your local citizens advice office.
Hope you find out whats going on.0 -
Sadly it probably is in their T&Cs - first things first - get with a [TEXT DELETED BY FORUM TEAM] provider like one of the charities in my signature - they don't charge you and your creditors are more likely to agree to stop interest. It can NEVER be guaranteed though...
The only time it will stop is if they agree to it (they don't have to) or if they get a CCJ out (in which case they have to have permission to continue to charge interest by the court).
Once you've got the DMP back on track with a charity then you could look at trying to get your payments (the £30) back [TEXT DELETED BY FORUM TEAM] but I don't know what your chances of success would be unless you have it in writing that they would get interest stopped...DFW Nerd #025DFW no more! Phillbull, we are in the same situation with harrington brooks mate. The account statement that we (finally) got when we (finally) managed to close the account showed random payments and incorrect payments too (we just spoke to a creditor who is sending us proof of the last payment which differs to what is on the statement) they havnt even tried to hide it. They were nightmares.
You have my deepest sympathy bud.0 -
You can transfer your DMP to another company. I would recommend CCCS, we have been with them for a year. No extra charges, completely transparent, send monthly statements, very helpful.0
