Hi, its not possible without a new card but you could ask every couple of months if you are eligible for an upgrade.

I am aware that you need to be pre-approved, which if you run your account well, does happen, and I know people who have been able to get offline card and chequebook, after initially only being eligible for the full auth card. You keep going on about this credit restricted Select Silver account, as I've said, it is the customer that is restricted. The bank decides which features of whatever product to offer based on the customers profile. The features of the Select/Select silver will be tailored to the customers profile. The basic account has its own t&cs, which are specifically for that account, and are irrelevant to the silver account

I don't "know" because I'm not a bank "insider" but if I undertstand the product feaures, you have "upgraded" to Select Silver and therefore should receive a new "full function" card. If there is any doubt you need to clarify that with Natwest.

if a customer upgrades to a select account they are not guaranteed to get an offline debit card. But they will get a card that will allow them to withdraw from any ATM.

In my account settings it does offer me the option to order a cheque book its just the offline card i'm interested in. as you say i'll give it 6-12 months and ask. I have a credit card but its quite a low credit limit so i need to transfer payments to it several times a month so a fully functioning debit card would be the better option.

    thanks for the quick replies.

My understanding is there is a credit restricted Select Silver account available (which really is just the same as the old advantage blue account) however you will not be allowed an overdraft or any type of lending including an offline debit card for a free of £8.00 which will allow you to use any ATM you choose plus you wont incur any charges etc.

    OR

There is the credit based Select Silver for a fee of £8.00 per month which will allow you to have credit facilities etc IE an overdraft or an offline debit card subject to status.

*discliamer* I dont work in branch but thats my understanding

And I can back both of them up as I deal with account openings (for Private) but had to have training on all the new current accounts.

The bank did this so that customers could benefit from the packaged account without having a credit scored facility.

Did you know that technically, there are actually 3 variants of the Select Silver?

    - One with credit scored facilities for branch based customers
    - One with credit scored facilities for Private Banking customers which is the same, but they can get the cards & cheque books "Private Banking" branded
    - One with no credit facilities
Anything that I do say, is strictly my opinion :p

That's good. I have a few questions though. The Natwest account fees and charges leaflet online (today) only specifies (in respect of "unauthorised overdraft" charges (of £6/day) one type of Select Silver account. Therefore, if somehow, and there are theoretical ways that an unanticipated overdraft can arise, the "credit restricted" Select Silver account being discussed would be liable for unauthorised overdraft charges of £6/day, unlike the Basic account which the charges leaflet specifically says only incurs Returned Item Fees for the same (unlikely) but still theoretically possible overdraft.

More pertinently, what most here wanted was an "all ATM" card, not a packaged account. Why not a "credit restricted" "free" Select (with its "all ATM" card)?

And where is the definitive list of the usage restrictions affecting an "online only" debit card. Pay@Pump? On train ticket purchase? Train operator ticket machines? Anywhere else?

This is a £96/year question? Before charges.
