Hello
OH spilled some yerba mate on the carpet yesterday. He tried to clean it, but I think the stain spread even more and now there is a not very nice green/blueish stain on a cream carpet. I normally use bicarb and white distilled vinegar with pretty good results. Anyone has any tips or can recommend any product I can use? THe stain is in a very prominent place and although the carpet is not brand new, it is a shame as it is still in a very good condition... grrrr...

Vanish carpet mousse is the best, I find.0

try not to scrub stains, it can rub them in more. try blotting instead, get clean tea towels or kitchen roll and apply pressure until its all up. I found this out when a pen leaked on my sofa...!
I needed to look for ideas on getting sick out of the carpet last week. stuff I found said to use soda water to lift the mess up out of the fabric. its the bubbles apparently. I didnt have soda water but I did have alka seltzer so that got tipped on the carpet. then I used the blotting tip until no more was coming up. did it again for good measure.
then the tip was to put water in a bottle and a bit of fairy liquid. shake it all up to make it into foam and then dab the foam on the stain. this should remove the stain. then blot the foam off.
I left it at that as there was no smell when it was all dried, but my next step was going to sprinkle bicarbonate of soda on it to deodarise, and then hoover it after a while! (I did this when my other child wet the bed ages ago, worked a treat like you said).
shaving foam is good for getting out sticky stuff like jam and ketchup! and I've also used distilled vinegar and bicarb like you.
oh the things I end up experimenting with!!
product wise, oxyclean is meant to be good and the vanish carpet mousse too. never tried either but thats because Im usually in a blind panic and using whatever is in the cupboard!!
best of luck let us know how it goes.0 -
Vanish is brilliant stuff but be careful as when I used the mouse on my Mom's carpet it faded  Although I use the one for clothes & have never had a problem.0
