Young Driver - named driver liability

Hi,

I am a young driver looking to get my first car and indeed my own insurance policy. The premium is vastly reduced by adding my parents as named drivers (~33%).

In the event of me personally making a claim would my parents no claims be affected, provided they played no part in the accident? I ask because whilst the saving is significant I wouldn't want to risk my parents no claims discount on my inexperienced driving!

I assume that they wouldn't and sorry if this is a obvious/common question, but better to be safe than sorry!

They should be OK adding a couple of parents always seems to bring the premium down, I'm in insurance and I can't quite grasp the logic behind this.
