Telephoned Virgin today and it will £8 for the first 6 months and then £15 per month.
"£6.75 a month
for 6 months
then £13.50 a month*"
if you have a Virgin phone line. I would imagine it would be cheaper still if you also have Virgin TV, though I don't know this for sure.
They are terrible on the phone sometimes - they offer you a 'discount', but when you press them for details you find they are offering money off the most expensive package, which even with the discount works out at more expensive than the package you actually wanted!
As you have to contact them anyway, make sure your MIL is only paying for what she uses, eg not paying for sports channels if she doesn't use them. Also compare her bills with the current offers on their website, and make sure she is not paying over the odds.0 -

The Smart Cover has a setup - folded like a Toblerone the tucked under the base with cover at the bottom not the top end - that allows a vertical-ish raked angle. Great for viewing but not very stable or suitable for entering text. The flatter rake (with the Toblerone at the top end) is stable and OK for text entry but not as good as a laptop angle for reading/viewing.0 -
Dear all,
thanks for all your comments and help.
I bought the ipad 2 from the Apple store and they set it all up.
My MIL absolutely loves it, and so do I.
I will be getting one for myself as soon as I can convince my OH it is a necessity.

Sounds like it is more an issue with your netbook/laptop and or broadband/router set up, than the ipad is quicker, or perhaps you would prefer it that way;)"If you act like an illiterate man, your learning will never stop... Being uneducated, you have no fear of the future.".....

A laptop with virus scanner etc running will always appear slower than a netbook.
CORRECTION: Meant to say -
A laptop with virus scanner etc running will always appear slower than an iPad or Android tablet.0 -

Oh dear...where did you get that one from...its wrong..:TIt is nice to see the value of your house going up'' Why ?
Unless you are planning to sell up and not live anywhere, I can;t see the advantage.
If you are planning to upsize the new house will cost more.
If you are planning to downsize your new house will cost more than it should
If you are trying to buy your first house its almost impossible.0 -
My 80-odd year old mother took to the 3G Ipad 2 I gave her like a duck to water. Suits her far better than any laptop I've tried her with.
On her first browse into e-book land, she got right into the Kama Sutra!0 -
