Warning - Floors 2 go (into administration)

Options
Ordered a floor from floors 2 go a couple of weeks ago, they told me I would have to pay the full amount as it was a large order.

Well I got a call today from someone telling me that they are on the verge of administration, to get down there and get my floor as they may not even be opening their doors tomorrow.

I went there, they wouldnt refund my money and didn't have the flooring i'd ordered, they confirmed that they are all losing their jobs and don't know how much longer they will be open for. In the end I have come away with a similiar flooring of the same value (better than nothing).

The staff there confirmed that they have been instructed to continue taking new orders even though there is little chance they will be able to fulfil them. It also turns out that floors2go parent company went into administration about 6 weeks ago.

you've been warned.

Floors 2 Go operate on a franchise system, so it may be just this particular franchise which has gone into administration and not all franchises.

  • Floors 2 Go do not operate on a franchise system, I worked for them, it is all owned by Rob Hodges.
  • This is very true im afraid!
I am now an ex employee as my store was closed yesterday! Without warning may i add!.
Please do not order any items that you cannot take away there and then as you will never receive them! They are closing stores every day! And those that are left open are basically being used and warehouses to sell off the remaining stock so they can claw back whatever cash they can!!. We as staff have been used and abused! Just to fill their greedy pockets!!! A damaged company with a very bad name!!! You only have to read the reviews to see that!!
    Farewell Floors 2 go !!!!

Another reason why i now only pay by credit card for big items. Sorry to all who are losing money on this.

  • My wife and I purchased some solid oak flooring in July and were told it would be delivered by the 31st. This date came and went and we were told that it was held up by customs and would be delivered asap. By chance I phoned the store last Wednesday to be told they were closing it down. I requested a refund but have been since told by the adminstrators that they do not know if the new company will honour any orders or refunds. Luckily I paid by credit card so fingers crossed they will return the money, although the article says that the new company will honour old orders, its a bit late we need it now. Just having the house done up as we have a baby on the way, so can't hang around for whatever wood they send our way. It is just a shame that lied at the start, they must have known they were having trouble and had no intention of fulfilling orders.

Well in the end we went to Topps Tiles as they had the same wood in stock (i know actual stock in the shop!).

Lessons learnt: Always google for reviews before buying anything that is expensive and only buy it if you can see it on the shelf.
  • We've also fallen victim to the scammers otherwise known as floors2go
We purchased a flooring sample for £10 on the 20th of august from the Taunton branch, have since found a better floor in b&q so went ahead and got that instead.
Have had around 4 cold calls from them trying to hard sell us (ignored the first few), got another yesterday so I told them we'd already got another floor installed and I would be returning the sample. Told no problem.
Later the same day I went in and was given the old "can't refund today, don't have the management authorisation codes" but was told if I came back saturday they would do it. Well guess what? Saturday I'm told they are in administration as of the 24th of august so won't honour any refunds before that day!!!
These rip off merchants are still trading, same advertising and signage, same staff etc.
My advice is AVOID at all costs!!!! Lucky for us it was only a tenner but could have been much worse from the sounds of it....
