After months of deliberation we've finally ordered a Sony 32" LCD TV (V series) and as we're on a roll are planning to buy our first ever DVD player. As they seem to vary from £10 to over a hundred, can anyone give advice as to which one to buy please. We are also planning to get a DVD Recorder (although we were hoping to get one of the Sky+ packages to fulfill that function which now seems to be out of the offer period) Should we get Sony to be compatible with the TV? Any help very much appreciated.

I would just buy a cheapy. Then in a year or two you can replace it with a HD-DVD or Blu-Ray DVD player (or a combination one). One of those would let you use your TV to the best but they are very expensive at the moment. It's my problem, it's my problem

Is the TV HD Compatible, I am assuming so. If so get one of the upscaling DVD Players they give a lot better picture on the HD TV's than normal DVD Players not true HD but a lot better than standard.
I picked up a Samsung DVD-HD860 for £60 from Comet to go with a Toshiba HD TV all you need then is A HDMI Cable and your away assuming the TV has two HDMI Ports or more. I have Sky HD in one port and the DVD Player in the second myself.Cheers
