Auto renewals on car insurance

Maybe I didn't express myself correctly. My present insurer which is a company which deals with insurance for "wrinklies" lets me pay by quarterly instalments by DD with no interest charges. If for some reason their renewal quote is unacceptable to me and I shop around, the majority of companies will only accept credit cards for payment and I do not want to set up a recurring payment by cedit or credit card. I can easily cancel a DD, not so simples with a credit card.0

With auto renewal, that doesn't stop you renewing without agreement.
It just means you renew anyway, don't pay, the insurer cancels, you get charged a massively over priced short term insurance, a huge cancellation fee, an admin fee, and they sell the debt to bailiffs.
You also get blacklisted for insurance, and have to declare you have had insurance cancelled, and pay even more in future.
One off credit card payments aren't always auto renew.
DD continuous payment is fairly universal for auto renewal as well, so check your t&c's.0 -
I got an email about insurance renewal from Swiftcover but there was no way other than phoning on premium number to stop it. Which I resented hugely.
Thank you Noto0870 and other such websites! :T
if you'd logged on to your portal it tells you that your policy is due for renewal. When you click the link there's an option to not renew your insurance and it's all done very easily..0
