Doesn't look like the policy is changing tomorrow. I'm sure both Constantine and Spa2K would have been told about it by now if it was changing.

I haven't bothered to post for quite some time but thought I could just say "I told you so"....The policy will be changing soon, which I believe is down to the amount of high value refunds pushing up each stores % of refund vs sales.

Every store is measured on this % and has found it increasingly hard to keep within it's budget. There is even a "host" (Tesco old style email) that comes to each store regularly explaining what is on the site and what to check in store.

The new policy will be..........well maybe you should all shop at Tesco and find out.

Personally I thought the policy was a good thing as Tesco needed to get its pricing correct and charge the customer right first time. Now through "abuse" (please don't argue as that is my opinion of it) the company has spent time looking more at how to change a policy rather than fix the pricing problems. I used to enjoy giving a customer a joint of beef (or whatever) free, because we had overcharged them, especially when they were not expecting it to be free. Unfortunately I have been called to the service desks all to often to find someone who has bought 6 PS2 games and been overcarged a total of 18p and them "demands" (used with caution) £120 back

I will still have the scope to give someone something "free" due to my position in the store but I think you can work out who I will be doing that for!

I think "wombling" may be the next to go.............;)

IF they do change the policy then we just continue with the tesco threads but instead of us getting an item free we report them to trading standards, with the fines they will have to pay they will soon change the policy back to keep the item and money back..

Lets be honest, when did the stores not find it tough to keep within the budget....and thats not down to mispricing, its down to rather tough budgets!

Couldnt agree with this more, and i'll bet that you have never been called to the customer service desk to deal with an undercharge...funny that!

That could have something to do with the fact that every time someone reports an undercharge, CS says "It's your lucky day. Don't worry about it". ;)

Gordon Ramsey cookbook here too today, along with a nice new Nokia 'cos the SEL was OOD so was charged a fiver more. SEL removed on the 'phone display. She was prepared to refund me the book entirely but only the difference for the phone til I pointed out the sign and she said the manager had told her to only offer the difference first and see if I would accept it.
    I think not.......
It aint over til I've done singing....

Nokia 1600 with £10 free airtime too. SEL was 29.99 but was charged 34.99. Offer had finished well over a week ago - SEL was removed though.

i think those are amazing. But does this mean that because I'm lax at chasing receipts that I get overcharged day after day?

I would be too nervous to actually go in and look for a misprice. I would be standing there with a red face at the checkout. Do mis-prices scan on the 'what price is this' scanners in the shops? (i.e. are they all singing from the checkout database)Or have all those scanners been disabled/broken?
