if you are willing to include the Grampians in your catchment area, I will support your plea. ...........and at least now you have one reply..how exciting is that then?

Ok, I'll play too!
Maybe we should start a 'Highland Goodies' campaign. I have a feeling that the Highlands and bargain offers just don't go together though.
I've often felt that we miss out on loads of good things just because we're a bit further 'up the road', lol.
Mind you there are plenty of nice peeps on here who have been really good in helping me out when I want to take advantage of offers that are not in my area.Herman - MP for all!0 -
At least the sheep are better looking up here. !!!
I am up and down the road to the Central belt reasonably often and have a good number of Friends and family still there so i am not so bad if I really need something down there but cannot get quickly
Ps another secret....use velcro gloves.....wellie marks are a dead give-away

Go to any railway station and buy a train ticket to Edinburgh - this opens up loads of new shopping oportunities.
Alternatively just shop online like everyone else.
My Mother in Thurso had broadband before it was available to me in the central belt! Now that's progress. Caused me enough grief on the A9 though. My Heart is in the Highlands......0 -
Don't worry about being in the Highlands - its the Islands that really get hit with charges for everything. I used to moan about prices, until I visited a friend on North Uist. Absolutely shocking, and the veg they have in stock, I would not buy here, and double the price. Will take a little suitcase of veggies next time I go. Even if I buy the day before, will be fresher than stuff that is delivered. (Would have to as flights and ferries are quite early). Petrol is a total rip-off. Fill your tank before going to any of the Scottish Islands, even if you think it is expensive, will be 10p a litre more when you get there.0

We have just moved to the Outer Isles, and though petrol is dearer the supermarkets are just as competitive as on the mainland. The way of life more than makes up for losing out on freebies!

Fully agree ..the biggest saving is in the levels of stress. That does not mean that we do not have crime ......we regularly get two on a push bike with no back reflector often on the pavement.....still can't have it all
Farm shops are cheaper and better quality than many supermarkets

Indeed! You're correct. We can go down to our home in Argyll and be only 50 minutes from Glasgow, but we much prefer our Highland home!
However there are drawbacks, as you point out Porgy. A few days ago I couldn't get past a flock of sheep on the road and I had to sit in my car listening to the radio till they got to their home!!!!!! :rotfl:
