Bit confused - been charged call-out fee for company that advertise no call-out fee?

That would be quite unethical. The invoice is for a "call-out" charge. If the invoice is for a "call-out" a credit note should be issued. Changing the invoice after the event to cover their "mistake" (unless the original says E&OE) is indefensible and they should take the hit IMHO. If the invoice does say E&OE then perhaps they would be entitled to rewrite it to say call-out nil, labour on site £x. But I don't think I'd have the brass front frankly.contact them about the call out fee
they'll probably reword it to something like 20 minutes of advice given

It doesn't matter what it is called. He has the right to some money for his time spent. You were lucky that he did not do things himself and rack up a large bill for you.I can afford anything that I want.
