Internal Pigeon scarer needed - thinking caps on please

I have a large stairwell at the top of my house and last year I had a smart new sloping roof window (closed not a velux) installed in it. At the same time we had bird spikes fixed all along the roof ridge because we have a big problem with pigeons locally.
This has worked fine, up till now, but in the last week a pigeon has taken to sitting right on the external frame of the sloping window and crapping all over the glass. I can see it sitting up there but cannot get access to it from the outside.
What I need is to rig up some device inside, just under the window, which goes off with a loud noise at regular intervals, to scare the pigeon off. Any ideas?

You won't get much if any sound going through a sealed window, and it will probably drive you made before the pigeons.
I would suggest a visual deterrent, especially if you can move it about.A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.0 -

I have established that banging on a side wall of the small well below the window (using a very long pole normally used for opening the conservatory roof windows) frightens off the pigeon.
I have a weather camera at present based in my home office, (on the floor below the stair well) and I could move it to point at the stair well and then activate the scaring off noise, whenever the pigeon appeared. My OH has suggested rigging up something with a cord to pull but I cannot envisage how I might do this. I supposed I could rig up something on top of a step ladder?
Do fake birds really work? I have a large fake parrot would that do it? Pigeon is on the window outside after all and looking out at the surrounding roof and sky, not in at the stairwell after all?0 -
One of these:
or one of these:
yes they do work very effectively.

I think they do because I've seen plastic eagle owls placed on the roof of buildings. It's similar to the use of raptors flown in football grounds or airports, to deter birds............but of course the deterrent plastic owl raptor doesn't do much flying and hunting.:D
I like the jack russel with a ladder suggestion :rotfl:but I think it would take you far too long to train the dog to climb the ladder. I know that pigeons are referred to as flying rats............but I'm sure that a smart cookie jack russel dog would quickly work out that the prize at the top of the ladder isn't a rat............but a boring bird, then he's lose all interest.:D
Cats are very good ladder climbers (in my experience) but I know they are also lazy and difficult to train.:p
So..............try the plastic owl first.
Good luck.
