guess they think they look more girly!! we've ordered a single friends figure off bricklink as we bought the lego night light in the boots sale for our 4 year old and wanted to change the figure in the torch part!

If you visit several WHSmiths you may find one that is doing the Lego Brickmaster DK books, £3 off one, and is also in buy a second for half price deal. They are £18.99

However Amazon has them now at £10.38 for Star Wars, £11.39 for the City one, £11.84 for the Atlantis and £11.34 for the Ninjago. Just remember to search on Amazon under the book section, not toys and games.

Hardback book has a comic and instructions for several models using the included bag of bits. A couple of minifigs are included too.

The Star Wars one is best value as it has the most pieces for your money!

    Lego kit reviews on brickshow

If your wanting to have a closer look at Lego kits before you buy take a look at the excellent video reviews on...

    Just google "brickshow"

It's American, but they get the same sets as us. You get an enthusiastic guy showing you the box, the finished model and he talks you through close up views of the mini figs and the model, says what he likes and dislikes.

Also includes good info like how good value the kit is using a price per piece ratio, and gives a mark out of ten for different age groups.

All the latest Lego models get reviewed, and lots of older ones are still on there too. All the popular themes are covered, star wars, ninjago, city etc.

Well worth checking out before you commit to buy an expensive Lego kit.

Another great Lego resource is Bricklink.

A huge worldwide marketplace for people who buy and sell Lego, by the set, and even by the individual mini figure, piece, or tiny brick with prices starting at 0.01p !

Just google "bricklink", and click on the .com result.

It's slightly hard to figure out how to use it at first, but very powerful when you get into it.

Here's a few starter pointers to find a set for sale on Bricklink.

If you know the set number of the Lego kit you are looking for, just enter it into the box at the very top of the screen, with the drop down list set to "items for sale"

OR if you don't know the set name, or just want to browse, click the "BUY" tab in green along the top, you get a list of "items for sale" which includes sets, parts, minifigs and much more.
If your looking for a set, click "sets", the choose your theme, eg Star Wars.
You get a big list of ALL the Lego kits in that theme, at the end of each entry is a box sayiing how many "lots" and "items" there are available. Click on "View Them" to see the sellers who are selling that kit worldwide.

Now, after doing either of the above search techniques look near the top of this results page for "Show more filter options". Click that and you can then specify where the seller should be, so you can select United Kingdom for cheaper postage costs. Make the dot next to United Kingdom go green, then click "Go!" to search again.

The sellers let you know if it's new, or used. As with ebay, you can see ratings of the sellers for piece of mind. As there lots of sellers on Bricklink the prices are very competitive, and you can easily see the cheapest options. Discontinued and even "classic" sets from the 80's are available on here.

I'll also do a post on how to find an individual part using bricklink.

Just google "bricklink" and click on the .com result.
