Advice requested on repairing internal wall

Hi Everyone,

I've linked to a photo of a gap between a wall and a door frame.

I'd appreciate any advice on how to make this look better and fill the gap for painting?

Many Thanks

If it was me I'd be putting in small fillets of wood to close the gaps and then top off with decorators filler and smooth out.
