Holiday name change - just flight name need changing?

Hi, been searching everywhere for some time now to try and get some idea on this matter but thought it would be best just to ask the experts ;)

Me and my girlfriend have booked with Bookable Holidays (not our choice - teletext holidays sent us there and they had charged us with all sorts before we knew it!) for a holiday in Majorca in 3 weeks time from today. For ridiculous reasons I won't go into, we aren't able to go. So as we're too close to the holiday date to get any money back whatsoever from cancelling, we were hoping to change the names on the holiday and sell it cheap to our friends.

However, Bookable Holidays (in, from what searching online has taught me, it's usual manner) to stick on a hefty charge onto what the flight operator (EasyJet) would charge. They are asking for £100 per name change, when EasyJet are asking for £35 per name change.

My question is: would a name change with EasyJet be enough to not cause the friends we pass it on to any issues, i.e. would we have to change the name at the hotel, transfers, etc?

With easyJet you have to pay the difference in fare as well as the name change fee.

The hotel will need passports for local registration.

So does that mean they will be expecting mine and my girlfriends passports and won't accept my friends or is there no problem?

Are they saying it will cost you £100 per person in total to change the flight names or £100 plus £x?

As already said Easyjet charge £35 PLUS difference in flight fare so as an example if the fare was £20 when you booked at it is now £120 they will charge you £100 (fare difference) plus £35 (admin fee) making £135 which is more that just buying a new ticket.

Regarding the hotel I would suspect you have been provided with an 'accomodation voucher' which will have your names on it, in that case I would try and get them to change it. The other option is to phone the hotel and ask them.

Depends who has issued the hotel voucher.

If it is a supplier such as http://r2.hotelbeds.com/corporate/indexUK.jsp?loadIdi=no then before the hotel get the money from the supplier they may need proof that the named people stayed at the hotel. They do this to avoid secondary markets.

My girlfriend called Bookable Holidays a few days ago asking how much it would cost and they told her £100 per person. At the time I thought it was quite expensive but now thinking about it at least we would know it was all sorted and not have to worry about getting the transfers and accommodation put in their names as I'm sure each part would stick their own admin fee on it.

    Thanks for your help guys!

Turns out it was £200 per person... Slight difference!

Easyjet have indeed added a fare difference of £30, which has pushed the total to £170. Just waiting to hear back from the hotel/transfer company to find out if they can beat the £400 that bookable holidays has suggested.

Is the reason you can't go something you could claim on your insurance for?
