Finally completed another year on the i-measure website-
http://www.imeasure.org.uk/
Year kwh CO2 Cost
2008-2009 11,795 3502 £589.46
2009-2010 13,339 3747 £621.08
2010-2011 13,068 3853 £644.63
Year to date 0 0 0
These figures include both gas and electric use.
My CO2 figure is the highest for the past year as I burnt more gas during the harsh winter although my total kwh figure is less than 2009-2010. At the beginning of the year I changed suppliers from British Gas who I had been with since 2003 to NPower as they were offering (and still are) the cheapest on-line tariff.
My utility usage in the 12 months up to the period I left BG was-
Gas 6816 kwh
Electricity 3457 kwh
I expect these figures to remain roughly the same with maybe an increase in Gas usage if the winter is harsh- which I expect all winters now to be longer and colder due to the lack of solar activity (sun spots).
Hopefully within the next year or two the government will launch its scheme to help people buy double glazing as this would make a massive difference to heating, I believe the bill is added to the cost of utilities interest free.
I have found compiling the weekly consumption figures a really helpful tool in keeping an eye on consumption and spending. A bit sad but once you start you can't stop!
