lovefilm £40 giftvoucher v old free trial

Can anyone help?!:mad:

My partner had a free lovefilm trial in november.
We cancelled it before we paid.

Our friend bought us a £40 3 month free gift voucher.
I registered it on 31/12/2006 and got a confirmation email.
When nothing had arrived by 05/01/2007, I emailed to complain.
Today I get an email to say that as a free trial was registered at this address, I can't use my gift voucher...?!

What shall I do?
I've emailed and told them 'It's not a free trial, it's a gift certificate!'

Help! I'm so utterly angry!

I hate to say it... these 'vouchers' really just get you a free trial. Subscribers get sent them regularly.

I think I'm best assuming it is a freebie and not a real voucher then, and keeping schtum.

He wouldn't have brought it, they gave them out free to current users to give out.

That's why you don't automatically get £40 free unless it's for a free trial for 3months because the person who gave you it didn't pay £40 for it, they would have got it for free. It's not like one you buy in a shop or online.

It does say that somewhere either on it or whatever came with it, I got some as well.

Apparently though, Lovefilm were/are allowing previous users to use the 3 months free - I had one of these through and it said I could use one as a previous customer and give one to a friend so maybe try again and say you had it from them in the post!!
