lovefilm £40 giftvoucher v old free trial

Can anyone help?!:mad:

My partner had a free lovefilm trial in november.
We cancelled it before we paid.

Our friend bought us a £40 3 month free gift voucher.
I registered it on 31/12/2006 and got a confirmation email.
When nothing had arrived by 05/01/2007, I emailed to complain.
Today I get an email to say that as a free trial was registered at this address, I can't use my gift voucher...?!

What shall I do?
I've emailed and told them 'It's not a free trial, it's a gift certificate!'

Help! I'm so utterly angry!

My husband is a lovefilm member and was sent at £25 gift voucher (2mth) to give to a friend just before christmas. This was a promotion, made to look like a voucher, not a voucher he purchased so i'm wondering if this could be the same with your £40 voucher and your friend didn't actually purchase the voucher??

I didn't realise they were sending out vouchers, he normally spends this amount on us so I just assume it was bought. Clever him for being MS! :rotfl:

Do you think I should say to my friend the voucher won't work do you want it back for someone else, and pretend I don't know he may have been sent it?
If he did buy it then he's wasted £40!

He could have been moneysaving but just in case, i'd mention it to him as if he did spend £40 on it, it should work whether you've had a free trial or not. Or if you don't like to do that, try having a word with lovefilm, I bet they are getting alot of similar inquiries if they gave out alot of these.
