Club Faru Maldives - anyone else been or going?

Hello all
We are going to Club Faru on 20/12 for two weeks (can't wait, it's been a pants year and we need a break!) - it's our first trip to the Maldives and I have a few questions:
- We are going with First Choice and our meal on the plane is included - does anyone know if this is the case for drinks too as I can't find any information on this;
- any suggestions for good/bad excursions - there's a lot of contradictory info on the web about this!
- does anyone have any experience of the Christmas/New Years entertainment;
- any general advice, do's and don'ts?
Anyone else going at this time?
