Reduction in Letting Agent Fee

Options
We currently pay 12% for a fully managed property, we wanted to remain the agent. We wanted to approach them for a reduction in the fee, ideally 10%.

How would you approach the agent, and when?

Managing the property ourselves is not an option.

I looked at all the agents as here are 4 in my local town. Their fees were 12%, 12%, 11% and 10%, they higher ones tried to sell all the extras like video of the house for inventory but to be honest they were all much the same if you compared the extras they charged for.

I chose the one I liked best and said despite it being 12% would he do it for 10% as that was the lowest quote and he agreed. I think it is a business like any other, if they know you are looking at other agents they are prepared to do a deal.

There is nothing to lose by asking.
Life is not the way it’s supposed to be. It’s the way it is. The way you cope with it is what makes the difference.
