Hi there,

apologies if this post doesnt belong here. Thought it would be most fitting.

I am looking into purchasing a Secuirty Alarm system from my house that includes some sort of response i.e. called when alarms go off etc.

What are peoples view on these? And if applicable what companies would you recommend?

Thanks in advance

JP

Also: Thought would also be helpful to explain my circumstances. I work away for half of the year on a rotational basis and my partner spends some time staying with her mum. Thanks

    More spam..
Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.

I use this type of alarm, a Wireless one. It works using a mobile phone SIM card and will text and call me, and a few others, if the alarm is triggered. Had mine for 18 months or so now and it has been great, no false alarms, can be switched on and off by text too which is handy for me.

Plenty of places sell this kind of alarm, just a case of having a good search on Google :)

There's a Yale DIY system I'm looking at. After having read that with a company such as ADT you don't actually own any of the equipment I was put off along with their monitoring costs when I could get one that calls me(3 numbers) itself.

It's a couple of hundred pounds and you can add up to 20 external devices such as PIR's, window/door sensors etc which are much cheaper £10-20 each rather than the £85 odd ADT charge you per PIR.

    A Yale diy system....pile of pants !

There are far better far more secure diy systems on the market than these things, look at Infinite prime alarm systems, excellent quality, expandable with a whole range of different sensors etc and the ability to add a GSM unit to auto dial you of an alarm condition.
