Hi folks

Thanks to everyone who has let us know about this security message.

We have checked the email, and have discovered we accidentally linked to an image on one of our secure servers (which we use for testing) last night by accident. This led to some users of Microsoft Outlook 2003 seeing the following popup

securewarning.jpg

Despite the warning, there was no security risk to you from either accepting or not accepting the message, as no transactions were made – this was simply about whether or not you saw the image.

We're really sorry for any inconvenience and thank you for relaying this information to us. We’ve made changes to all future versions of the tip being sent this week to make sure they won’t result in this message

Dan

Just opened the weekly e-mail and got a security certificate warning - "The name on the security certificate is invalid or does not match the name of the site" The cert is issued to a248.e.akamai.net

Anyone else ? and why has the warning popped up ?

  • Hey All,

It appears we linked to a copy of an image on one of our secure servers last night by accident (which we use for testing). The image was a background image (http://images.moneysavingexpert.com/images/tipstripebody.gif). There was no security risk to you from either accepting or not accepting the message as no transactions were made.

Sorry for any inconvenience and thank you for relaying this information to us. All subsequent tips to go out will not see this message.

    Thanks

    MSE Neil

I got it too, using Outlook Express. Although using MalWare and ZoneAlarm niether flagged any problems.

It is worth highlighting that, whilst it's safe in this instance to proceed, any other emails you have with the same warning may not be safe!
