I'm writing this because I am TERRIBLE with money, finances..basically anything numerical I can't grasp or remember. So I'm asking for some advice off someone who is a bit more clued up than me.
I'll try and keep this simple.
Three/Four months ago I left home and moved to the city. I'd saved a small amount of money so it gave me a month to look for a job. I got a job temp after a month but had gone in to my HSBC overdraft because I hadn't budgeted for bills/food/travel etc
To cut a long story short, due to me not being paid correctly and me not being sensible I'm now £1900 in to my overdraft. My overdraft limit being £1750. I have a virgin credit card but there is zero on it and I haven't used it for about 8 months. My only debt is my overdraft.
My work contract is due to end soon so I can't rely on wage to clear it. I have NO MONEY. What is the best thing to do in a situation like this?
I'll try and keep this simple.

Look for another job either temporary or permanent, can you not talk to your bank about it but first maybe cut your bills down0

Cheers for that!
I DON'T USE MY CREDIT CARD, there's nothing on it.
I'm only in my overdraft (which I've had for years) for the first time because I under-estimated bills/food/travel to work etc and I've been paid incorrectly.
I didn't ask to be put down by a keyboard warrior, more if there was a 'cheaper way' of having the debt. Like Martin advises people to swap and change.
Meanwhile hope you feel a bit of power/release/happiness from your !!!!!! post to a stranger on the internet. Maybe it'll
put the strain off the people around you. (if there are any)Trying to spread calmness, understanding and optimism on MSE0 -

Your bank will be screwing you with charges, so you need to find a cheaper way of borrowing while you've still got a credit rating. The Virgin website will tell you if they've currently got a 0% BT offer for you. If not, you can always ask. Or, if the bank thinks you're good for a £1750 overdraft, maybe they'll do you a personal loan. Don't mention the work running out.
Protect your credit religiously. Starve before you make a payment a day late. Especially if you get a Virgin BT. Expect no mercy.
If you have to make debt repayments out of Jobseekers, it won't be any fun, but people have survived on a bowl of rice a day. Sorry, but there's no free money, so you'll have to work out a budget and stick to it and ditch all excuses, especially the one about being terrible with money."It will take, five, 10, 15 years to get back to where we need to be. But it's no longer the individual banks that are in the wrong, it's the banking industry as a whole." - Steven Cooper, head of personal and business banking at Barclays, talking to Martin Lewis0 -

Cant you do a super balance transfer from your Virign card into your bank account? I used to have a Virgin card, and seem to remember being able to do this. Maybe contact them and see if they have any 0% offers on your account. If they allow this, transfer your overdraft debt to your credit card, cut the card up so you are only paying of the balance, and get your bank to remove the overdraftDebt free and staying that way! :beer:0
