Timpson botched repair FOUR TIMES!!

Hi; full story is here, but beware its fairly long.
In brief I took my watch to Timpson for a nice simple 'while you wait' battery replacement, the guy in the shop made a mess of it and they've now had it at their service centre three additional times, each time its come back with new faults.
The watch is 8 years old, cost about £100 new (virtually the exact same watch is still on sale at Argos for £100; I've been told it's a newer model, but looks identical in every respect).
Obviously I'm not happy, I've been in contact with their Customer Service dept. and am being kept waiting for a response at present (just chased it up with a slightly harshly worded email) as to whether they're going to replace it for the £100, or pay the £62.17 for a full manufacturer service, clean & guarantee.
I want to know if they're liable in any way I can chase them for, or if I have to rely on their 'Customer Service' and just see what they'll offer.

Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience.

No. lol. I happen to remember it was a Wednesday as my wife and I went to see a film (might have been new HP release, not sure) after collecting it.Googlewhacker wrote: »In all seriousness, they should return the watch to you in the same condition as it was left to them.
This is what I thought; but am I covered by anything specific? Its not the SOGA I figure... but is there something?Googlewhacker wrote: »I can't see them refusing to pay the £62.50 after 4 goes of them trying to fix it because they have ballsed it up.
I'm hoping not, but I'm not getting responses from them at the moment.Googlewhacker wrote: »Timpsons are normally a good company so I expect them to sort it out.
I've always been wary of them; I don't trust a company just because they have a recognised name. Whenever I have been there to get anything done they never seemed particularly knowledgeable or professional. And that's all 3 branches I've used both here and back up in Carlisle.Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience.- Mark TwainArguing with idiots is like playing chess with a pigeon: no matter how good you are at chess, its just going to knock over the pieces and strut around like its victorious.0 -
