My bank account has been raided!

I am really upset and worried, hope someone can help me.

I went to Dublin for work last week (Tuesday) and when I got to the airport I took out 120 Euros from a cash machine for cabs. The first time I did it, I mis typed my PIN - I still go to the requesting cash stage and then it rejected me. The second time it worked fine.

I have just downloaded my weeks transactions into Money, and I've got £86.22 to Bank of Ireland on 3rd March, £86.28 on 4th and £86.37 on 7th March!! I can't afford this - I am now close to my overdraft limit, with DDs going out next week.

I called telephone banking and the guy was really nice but he said if I need to sort it fast it will be better to go to a branch tomorrow and sign forms, rather than wait for them in the post. But now I have to worry ALL NIGHT about this, and I am hoping someone can reassure me I won't loose this money. I bank with Barclays and have always had good service with them before so I hope they will help me.

What I do know is that ATM disputes can take 6-8 weeks to resolve :(

They look at dates and times and will check these against the ATM in question and check that the correct pin was entered. It's very lengthy process and I suggest that you visit your branch tomorrow to arrange some cover for your DDs which are due to come out.

If the transactions are incorrect then it will be sorted out so try not to worry. Duplicated ATM entries are usually on the same day/time but very occasionally ATMs may duplicate entries at the same time on consecutive days, the bank will certainly already know if this is the case and will be in the process of advising customers.

It certainly sems very odd that the entries are on different days, are you positive that you only made one withdrawal?

Thanks, I hope this will get resolved ok. 6-8 weeks seems a very long time though.

The thing is, they can see a transaction at 7.05am when I withdrew money in the UK for my cab to Stansted and another at 20.35 when i withdrew money back in the UK on the way home from stansted - so there is no way I could have made the transactions in Dublin on the dates they are suggesting, as I was only in Dublin for 6 hours and they can see I was back in the UK that evening (and I guess I could prove I was in Basildon every other day last week!)
