How to set up a DD between two banks

Hi,
I'm sorry in advance for the basic question, but I have no idea when it comes to banking!
I have a current account with Santander, and an ISA with Nationwide. I'd like to set you a Direct Debit from Santander to Nationwide, but how do I arrange this??
Also, I'm looking into switching my current account to another bank- will I need to set up the DD again, or can I just transfer that over too?
Thanks!

presumably you want to transfer money from sntander to your ISA?
if you want a DD then you need to ask nationwide to set it up assuming they allow such transfers
otherwise set up a standing order on your santander a/c to the ISA0 -
Or go into Santander and set up a standing order into the ISA - you will need the Nationwide's sort code and account number and if necessary a roll/reference number.
This can also be done by using Internet banking.0 -
Actually Nationwide may not support any species of BACS transfer to your ISA. Some of their ISAs are passbook-only, and the online ones tend to want you to have a Nationwide current account and move money through that."It will take, five, 10, 15 years to get back to where we need to be. But it's no longer the individual banks that are in the wrong, it's the banking industry as a whole." - Steven Cooper, head of personal and business banking at Barclays, talking to Martin Lewis0

You can pay into the Nationwide online ISA via SO, from an external account, although you need to have an existing card account to open one.
