My used car - 2 months in going wrong

Hi everyone,
I bought a Saab 9-3 estate on a 58 plate on 25th of June 2011 from a dealer. It had done 31000 miles and I have put a further 2000 miles on this. Part of the sale included a service which was stamped in my log book.
Imagine my surprise when I find a large groove in the offside rear disc brake, I have photgraphs if required but it does look like it will need replacing.
My question is this - I did not buy a warranty do I have any right to claim as I would say 2000 miles after a service for a disc brake to go is not 'wear and tear'?
Many thanks in advance everyone

Brake Discs are consumables, and require changing periodically. It is unlikely that discs would be covered under a warranty anyway.
I assume that you didn't check the disc at time of purchase. 2000 miles is sufficient mileage to score brake discs particularly if there has been a stone or something in there. What state are the pads in?
It's unlikely you'll get far with this.My farts hospitalize small children

Discs can have wear grooves in them and be perfectly servicable, Have you measured the
disc thickness to see if its within manufacturers tolerances?Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
Discs will often have grooves in them from the fact that pads are not 100% homogeneous in their construction. How deep is deep? If you're not experienced in the matters then you maybe over reacting to something which may not be a problem - of course I have no visuals to go from. Your service would not have changed the discs or pads, and on a 33k car they are likely to be the original discs and pads. Other posters are right it's highly unlikely that a warranty would entertain a claim, infact I'm certain they won't. Take the wheel off and have a look to see if there is anything in the pad. Turn the disc round by hand, pads will always drag on the disc to a certain degree but if you hear something is scoring/screetching then it could be something wedged in between the pad and disc. Recommended minimum disc thickness is stamped around the centre of the disc.0

Upload them to Photobucket or similar as an album, then post the link to the album here.

(You might have to drop the http:// bit to be able to get the link to appear since you have a low post count)0
