How unlucky can I get?

Arrrrgggghhhh!

Yesterday spent hours tracking down a particular floor tile my wife wanted from B&Q, spent Monday morning driving down to the shop, getting the assistant to forklift them of the top shelf, humping them into the car driving them back home, humping them down the drive and into the kitchen, spent £300.

Today got an emailed from B&Q containing a voucher for 15% off tiles.

The right decision on the day is the right decision. The risk of returning them and then rebuying is that the tiles you found might be lost.

If you can be bothered it might be worth ringing them and putting it to them or just returning them and immediately buying them back - £45 - is it worth it for time and petrol?

You have to ask yourself would you have got that email if you hadn't been in there to buy tiles and left your details with them at the same time.

I have to suspect that the answer is a big fat resounding no. :D

    Jeez.

Sh*t happens. Just get on with your life and enjoy the tiling! It's not worth stressing over.

Okay, thanks for all the responses, but £45 is £45 and this is a money saving site so I think it would have been remiss of me not to try.

So I emailed the contact on the website to see if there was anything I could do, they phoned me back the next day but as I did not order them online (I would have if I could be no option to order and collect) they could not help, I had to go to the store.

I went to the store with my receipt (on the way somewhere else) and asked at returns and checked with the tile section manager if there was anything they could do, no apparently not without the tiles present.

So Saturday loaded them back into car drove to store parked next to door and went in. I went to see if they would at least look at the tiles in the boot rather than make me unload them and wheel them in and you know what... Customer services did the discount without even asking to see them! oh well at least I got the money back.

Anyway those tiles have now been out of the house more than my dog.

Well done for being determined but as this is MSE ask yourself these questions (loracan mentioned the calc earlier too) :

    1. What is the mileage between store and home. Multiply by 4

    2. What is the average mpg fuel consumption of your vehicle? Multiply by the answer to Q1.

    3. How much do you value your individual time on a pound notes basis? That might be as simple as your net take home hourly pay.

    4. How many hours (or parts thereof) did you spend driving to store. negotiating, driving home, loading tiles, driving to store, getting £45, driving home, unloading tiles? Add up and multiply total by the answer to Q3.

Add answers in £s to Qs 2 and 4 together. Does it come to more than £45? You don't have to say here if you don't want to.

    Cheers
