EON charging to switch suppliers
After receiving notification of latest price increases (I am on EON Saveonline 7) I decided to switch suppliers. Notified EON on 15/8 and was today contacted by EON advising that if I change suppliers I will be charged a cancellation fee. I advised that I believe that it does not apply as am changing following notofaction of a price increase according to Ofgem rules.
The chap on the phone checked with his manager who stated that they could and will be charging the cancellation fee and that they know nothing about any Ofgem rules.
Can anyone advise if I am right or wrong here.
Thanks

Provided you gave notice to switch to Eon at anytime on or before the date the variation is scheduled to become effective, and the acquiring supplier contacts them within a further 15 working days, then no termination fee is payable.
Regarding not knowing anything about Ofgem Rules, that is a pretty sad indictment of Eon. No doubt Malc the Eon Rep will be able to trace the Manager concerned and provide them with a kick up the backside.:rotfl:It looks like they may have been over promoted.0 -
Hi karden
Just to be clear; customers changing supplier because of our price increase will not have to pay a cancellation fee.
We need to receive the loss notification from the new supplier within 15 working days from the day customers tell us they're leaving.
I'm sorry if certain agents have given the wrong advice when customers have called in.
If you want to send me your details karden to the email address in my profile, I will be able to look at your account and see who you have spoken to and make sure they get the correct info.
