I'm having problems finding support or colleges that offer what i want to do...
I want to do A level Maths...
After contacting local colleges and finding it very difficult to even get a reply out of them...so far i have is:
We only do A level Maths for 16-19 year olds and do Access Courses for adults which can then help to get onto a university course....
of course, loads of places do courses for pre-GCSE Maths, GCSE (or equivalent) Maths! Which is not helpful at all!!
I have my degree already as of summer 2006, the problem is i really to get A level Maths onto my CV and of course to improve my Maths skills!
The only option i can now think of is home study through ICS and get a tutor, but thats really expensive and even more improtantly, i am not motivated to study by myself at all, which is why i wanted to be part of a class, with other students for motivation and support as well as a teacher to set homework, mark it etc, do mock exam papers, get them marked.
Does anyone have any other ideas? Is there such a thing as Adult Learning Centres where they might do A level Maths???

There are colleges that do A Level Maths for adults. You may also have the option to study by distance learning?
If you are ok to let us know what area in we may be abe to give more specific information? xGone ... or have I?0 -
I'm based in East London, but not being familar with what FE Colleges there are, I contacted the nearest ones to me, Southwark College and Tower Hamlets College...
I'm thinking of just doing home study with a tutor...and not buying materials from home study companies like ICS (as its over £300!!) and just buying a couple of textbooks...0 -
Can't offer any advice specific to your area I'm afraid (hopefully someone else can?!), but I did a distance learning A Level through my local college.
Have you looked on LearnDirect.co.uk? I have spotted a few on there, none particularly close to you but it may be that you can do it all by correspondance, email and phone?
Good luck! xGone ... or have I?0 -

As its 3 in the morning, (I cant sleep got to get up in 3 hours to go to work!) I should be asleep, but when I get to work tomorrow I will post here the local colleges to you that do it. I know the problems you have, we are in SE London and my son spent months looking for a college to do maths and physics A levels that would take adults.
Got told to do an access to science course, which he tried but 2 years in one was to quick a pace for him.
Correspondence course for maths and physics not easy to do. Son was sent a trial lesson from one place. Very difficult to teach yourself Maths!!
There are some near you and I have links for searches if you want to go further afield. Will write soon...If I wake up in time...off to bed again now0 -

Using the above link you can search under 19 or over 19, not sure how old you are.

Lewisham, bromley, and croydon do A level maths but you will be able to find somewhere closer to you. If you have any problems/questions pm me.
Good luck0 -
have you called learn direct? (can't think of their number, but easy to find online)
have you seen floodlight - they have a print version and a website - lists courses in greater londonBoyfriend & I have saved £12K in two years, thanks to careful budgeting and keeping a record of what we spend. I've never paid myself this amount of money before - it feels great!0
