That's really very useful, Martin. Thank you so much. Even £25 with the bank seems good but of course, it would be a lot higher if transferring the whole £15,000 odd. I checked with Western Union today and they charge £290.90 for up to £15k and of course, with WU there is no paper trail should anything go wrong. If Amex would charge £10 even on such a large amount then it makes real sense to go for it. Much gratitude to you.

No problem. All you need to do now is raise £15k !

So, I am wondering if Amex offer the best deal then, at £10.00 per tranfer, regardless of amount? If indeed I've got my facts correct. Almost seems too good to be true.

I need to transfer about £800 into an African bank account. I contacted Amex and they say they do not do a money transfer service. I asked her to check and she assured me there is no such thing. After reading this forum it was exactly what I wanted - now I am thinking I am going mad. Can anyone shed any light on my problem

Amex won't deal with payments in pounds going into a foreign GBP account only payments that involve changing to another currency - presumably that's where they make their money.

    But they certainly exist!
