Can you letterdrop homes in the area you like? Literally a bit of paper through the letterbox. Internet scammers have a hard time getting themselves inside that real-world approach!

I thought of that last night, as there are specific places i want to live, so going to give it a whirl!

At the bottom of your ad just say

"Nigerian scammers need not apply - I don't transfer money using Western Union"

    :silenced:
"I'm not from around here, I have my own customs"
For confirmation: No, I'm not a 40 year old woman, I'm a 26 year old bloke!

I see your in a village so it's alot harder. Is there a post office/shop there you can put an advert in or see ads. Or local pub so you can ask around. Could be in your local paper. Where I am from originally adverts for my village where put in local paper in next town to us.

    Jeez.

OP: why not use the property search sites like everyone else does and put in your buying criteria and then use the email function to contact the seller's EAs?
Everyone is entitled to my opinion!

    1. S/he is renting
    2. Wants to contact the landlords directly
    3. does not want to use an Estate Agent.

Word of mouth works well in areas like this, since I've let a couple of people know I might be looking I've heard of a couple of places that might come up, as well as someone who told me their parents have a cottage whose tenants are moving soon. Gossip in villages is wonderful!
