Tips on first time eating fish

Has he checked whether or not you are short of intrinsic factor? Don't forget that most doctors are completely ignorant about nutrition as they don't study it as part of their training. It might be worth getting it checked out as if you are short of intrinsic factor (and it's possible to be short of this as a meat eater too), then it can lead to pernicious anaemia which is extremely dangerous. Most B12 deficiency is caused by lack of intrinsic factor and not a lack of dietary B12.
Yep intrinsic factor was checked too and is normal/ok. My Dad has pernicious anaemia so I know how bad it can be, hence me trying to get mine up my eating fish.
Thanks all for the suggestions, molly - the pasta bake sound quite nice! I'm going to go to M&S tomorrow and see what fishcakes they have there.
