Funny, I've never found it that hard to say 'I'm not interested' and then hang up if they persist.

I lovethe fact that aged 30 I still get asked if I am the homeowner or if my parents are in. Both replies are of course NO.

I ask for the full name and address of the company and their name, when they ask why I explain that I need this information to make a complaint against them.... They usually hang up quickly...

My ex husband always used to find out what they were selling and say 'double glazing, thank God, I thought you were the bailiffs....so tell me more....'again, they tended not to last long...

Current DH has been trained to put the phone straight down, otherwise he gets into a conversation with them and it all goes terribly wrong!

But it's much more fun playing along than hanging up. I used to get annoyed at them but now I find it entertaining, I would rather laugh than frown!

Got a nice call this morning, I proceeded to tell them Mrs ***** is in prison but I know she would be interested in the loan, you know cigs and stuff. When they asked when they should call back, I explained that it was a life with a min for 18 years sentence BUT she was plotting an escape very soon because she was due in court for the second victim and she wouldbe interested in the money to start a new life, I asked for his number and said I could get her call you if you like? He hung up...I thought he was very rude!

What are the bets he is on google right now trying to find out about me!

There seems to be a spate of Jehovah's Witnesses doing the rounds here. With me the conversation usually goes along the lines of:

emot-catholic.gif Hi, have you heard the good news about Jesus Christ Our Lord and Saviour?
emot-devil.gif Yes, but before we go further, can you tell me the churches views on gay marriage?
    emot-catholic.gif Umm...we're against it
emot-devil.gif Right...that's not really compatible with my lifestyle, I'm afraid.
    emot-catholic.gif I see...are you gay then?
emot-devil.gif No, but I'm Pagan (true) and am a firm believer in letting people live their lives however they see fit as long as it's not harming anybody else (also true)

At this point they either leave me alone or try to redeem me, at which point it actually gets quite interesting as I point out the hypocrisy of what they're saying, the incompatibilities between what they're saying and what's written in the bible, and the parts of Christianity that were blatantly stolen from Pagan rituals/celebrations. I actually quite enjoy a good religious debate, and as much as I disagree with trying to sell your religion door-to-door, I don't really have a problem with Jehovah's Witnesses as such. Other salesmen get told in no uncertain terms that I'm not interested in whatever they're selling, before the door gets closed in their face.
