Hi, I am going to university in September and i have just tried to apply for the natwest student account. I believe decisions on granting Student Accounts at Barclays are made in branch; not wholly automated.

If the account with NW was brought straight back in to credit and the Orange bill was paid by other means right off the bat, the OP shouldn't have their external credit history affected atall.
