Weeding of Pavement Outside Rented Property

I currently rent a property which fronts directly on to the pavement. Next to the pavement, there is then an allocated parking area (for which I do not have a space).
I was just curious to know if I am responsible (irrespective of what it may say in the tenancy agreement) for weeding the pavement that is outside my property? I do try to keep it clear but was wondering if the LA is entitled to include this area in the parts that required cleaning come the end of tenancy check.

If the property is a flat then it's likely to be a communal area and you are not responsible for weeding it.
    I'm not cynical I'm realistic :p

If the area is part of the property, you are responsible for maintaining it, just like you clean the bathroom and mow the lawn.

If it is not, then it is the responsibility of whoever owns it: neighbour, local council etc.

As far as I'm aware it's not part of the property. From what I can remember seeing when I checked the Land Reg plans ages ago the boundary of the property is the front wall of the house and the pavement is public.

    Then that is your answer.

Indeed, there was a case last summer of a lady hwose property had a grass verge belonging to the council between her front garden and the pavement. In a cost-cutting excercise, the council stopped mowing this verge, so in order to keep the area tidy the lady started to mow it when she did her own front lawn.

The council wrote to her prohibiting her from 'interfering' on their land!
