Brightouse

I had thirteen agreements with Brighthouse that will be down to two in October and the other two will be paid in October next year.

I keep getting phone calls telling me I can get £40 off my next order and my last payment will be paid off for me.

I keep telling Brightouse I am paying them off but they don't listen and keep phoning me offering me discounts.

I've also asked them that when I have paid them off I would like my data removing from their systems but they say they are unable to do this.

Is there anyway to get them to stop phoning me and are the allowed to keep my records on their computer?

There is a letter you can send to ask for all further communication to be in writing. http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.php?p=11571485&postcount=4

They have to keep records of your accounts on their files for 6years.
However if you are on a marketing database/list you can ask to be removed from that.

What on earth were you buying with 13 agreements.

Good to see you are realising you can live without their credit offers

I bet they are offering you all sorts, you are single handedly keeping them afloat. Well done on get rid of 11 though, that will free up some pennies for you :)
    29th June -Beginning Credit Score 422 :( £2575
    12th July - Credit score 471 :p
22nd August - Credit Score 550 :p Still very poor just but only just!
    Remaining to pay off: £1370.95
  • I've been with Brighthouse for ten years and I've never missed a payment so that's why they continue to pester me to take out new agreements as they know I'm a good customer but they don't report to the credit reference agencies this keeping me sub prime.

I've made them a huge amount of money and forced to take out their optional service cover even though I never wanted it but told by the manager if I don't take it then I cant have the goods so no presents for the kids.

Complained to head office about the optional service cover been forced on me by the manager and wanted it back to be told no but as a gesture of good will two of the lowest items will be written off so that's ok by me.

Its mainly items for the house and Christmas presents for the kids but as I've paid a lot of debt I can now save for the kids presents so I don't need Brighouse anymore and they don't like being told I'm paying them off.

Next October I'm totally debt free and I will have the money to myself again and I'm not getting into debt again as I'm sick of all the hassle with debt collection agencies.

I checked my credit rating an my score is 580 and classed as poor so I followed the advice of this site and applied for some catalogues from Jd Williams and Simply be and got them both with a £125 limit on each.

I order one small item and pay it off then order another item and pay it off and now I have three months of green zeros

The only debt I will have when I'm debt free will be the credit agreements to give me green zeros but I will make sure they are only small amounts as I've learned a lot from this site and I intend to keep my debt ratio low :)

I will also send the template to Brighthouse and get the phone calls stopped and hopefully the letters to.

    Thanks :)

Well done boogie - they are a bunch of thieving nasty horrible people and well done you for getting rid of them! You can absolutely tell them to remove you from their sales database, but as you have credit agreements with them they do have to keep your historical data on file for 6 years... If you don't want them calling you however you are perfectly entitled to tell them to hop it! :) Just remind them next time they call that if they do so again you'll report them and make sure you take the calling agents name and note the day and time :) Ideally ask for a manager and note their name too :)
