Hi son has just sent off ppi reclaim to direct line ppi front loaded .He has just started to claim jsa but should start a job in 3 weeks. The problem is he has been working short term contracts so can not claim on ppi.
He did have a permanent job with sickness benefit etc 3 years ago when took loan out but left job to work abroad for a few months but decided to return home and has been only been able to get temporary contracts since although quite well paid.
With the finishing of recent contract he has got 2 months payment behind on his loan.I think he should inform direct line of his temporary problems but would this lead to his loan being reassessed and interest etc being recalculated. Thanks for any help with this.

If he is behind with payments and seeking to reclaim a missold ppi then they will deduct any arrears first then make up a payment back via cheque or bacs for the difference !0

Thanks for your very quick answer its good to know if things get any worse.
My son is fortunate that it is his first time on jsa in his ten years working.I am still a bit worried that he is 2 months behind and has not let them know why.Hopefully he will sort the payments out when he goes back to work.thanks again.0 -
Tell him to ring them asap and explain his position, they would rather he be honest than avoid them0

If by "front loaded" you mean a single premium added to the loan, that is going to be difficult to defend. With the finishing of recent contract he has got 2 months payment behind on his loan.I think he should inform direct line of his temporary problems but would this lead to his loan being reassessed and interest etc being recalculated.
Lenders are generally fairly sympathetic at the moment because the FSA landed on them about mortgages pretty heavily not so long ago.
However, if redress is awarded it will probably go toward clearing the arrears on the loan in the first instance as has been said.
It sounds like a complaint is likely to be upheld, though.0
